The difference
A host wants MYR 4,583. Here’s what it costs.
Hosts pay no booking commission and receive their host amount in full. A guest cost contribution of 6.9% of the host amount is already included in the displayed total. It contributes to payment processing, refund handling and payment loss costs.
Take a simple example: an owner who wants to earn RM 4,583 for a week.

Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Booking.com General Delivery Terms.

About United Kingdom
Staying in the United Kingdom
The United Kingdom is a country of wildly different moods squeezed into a surprisingly short drive. In a single week you can swap the surf beaches and fishing harbours of Cornwall and Devon for the fells and lakes of the Lake District, then cross into the wide, weather-swept glens of the Scottish Highlands. Wales adds its own drama, with the mountains of Snowdonia (Eryri) rising behind the sea cliffs of the Pembrokeshire coast. Down south, the honey-coloured villages of the Cotswolds roll gently between market towns and country pubs, while London remains one of the world's great cities for museums, theatre and food. Self-catering is woven into the way Britain holidays: converted barns, stone cottages, coastal boltholes and farmhouse retreats let you cook local produce, keep your own hours and settle in like a local rather than a guest. Just a straightforward conversation with someone who knows the area.

Vacation rentals in the United Kingdom: FAQ
When is the best time to visit the UK?
It depends on what you want. Summer (June to August) brings the longest days, warmest weather and the busiest beaches in Cornwall and Devon, but also peak prices and crowds during school holidays. Late spring (May) and early autumn (September) are the sweet spots for many travellers: milder crowds, quieter trails and often settled weather. Winter suits cosy Cotswold and countryside boltholes, city breaks in London and festive markets. Whenever you come, pack layers and a rain jacket — British weather changes quickly.
How do I get around, and do I need a car?
London and the bigger cities have excellent public transport, so a car there is more hassle than help. For the countryside it's a different story: the Lake District, the Scottish Highlands, Pembrokeshire, Snowdonia and the rural Cotswolds are far easier with your own wheels, as buses and trains can be sparse between villages and trailheads. Mainline trains connect the major hubs well, and many people combine rail to a regional town with a hire car for the last leg. Remember Britain drives on the left, and rural lanes can be narrow.
What's the weather really like?
Changeable — that's the honest answer. Southern and eastern England, including London and the Cotswolds, tend to be a little warmer and drier. The west and north — Cornwall, Wales, the Lake District and the Scottish Highlands — catch more rain and wind, which is exactly why the scenery feels so green and dramatic. Devon and Cornwall enjoy a mild, almost gentle climate thanks to the sea, while the Highlands can genuinely serve up several seasons in one day. Bring waterproofs and don't let a grey morning cancel your plans.
Which area suits which kind of traveller?
Beach lovers and families gravitate to Cornwall and Devon for coves, coast paths and rock pools. Walkers and outdoor types are spoiled in the Lake District and Snowdonia, with fells, lakes and peaks to climb. The Scottish Highlands reward anyone chasing big, remote landscapes, whisky and wildlife. Pembrokeshire pairs cliff-top coast walking with sandy bays. The Cotswolds offer a gentle, foodie country escape of pubs and pretty villages, and London is unbeatable for culture, museums and nightlife. Many trips happily combine two or three.
What does booking direct with the host actually mean?
You can message the host before booking. For a booking request, Stripe first places a card hold for the full amount; the host has 48 hours to accept, and only then is the amount captured. Instant Book is charged immediately after Stripe confirms payment. Do not transfer the booking amount directly to the host. The displayed total already includes the 6.9% guest fee on the host price, covering payment processing, refund handling and payment risks.
