Brazil is a year-round destination, but the seasons flip from the northern hemisphere. Roughly May to September is the drier, cooler window across much of the country and the easier time for the Amazon and Iguacu. December to March is peak summer, warmest for the beaches and the season of Carnival, though also the busiest and priciest. Because Brazil is so large, it is worth checking conditions for your specific region before you plan.
Which parts of Brazil are best for a beach holiday?
The northeast is the classic beach choice, with warm water much of the year around Bahia, Porto de Galinhas and the coast near Natal and Fortaleza. Rio de Janeiro combines city life with famous urban beaches, and Florianopolis in the south is a favourite for surfers and summer visitors. A coastal rental lets you settle into one stretch of shoreline rather than rushing between them.
Do I need to see both sides of Iguacu Falls?
Many travellers try to. The Brazilian side at Foz do Iguacu offers the sweeping panoramic view of the whole falls, while the Argentine side puts you up close on walkways above the water. They are different experiences, and crossing the border to see both is a common part of a visit, so allow time and check current entry requirements for each country.
Is the Amazon easy to visit independently?
Most Amazon trips are based around a lodge or a river cruise reached from a gateway city such as Manaus, since the rainforest is remote and best explored with local guides. A rental in Manaus or another gateway can serve as a comfortable base before and after a guided jungle stay. The drier season generally makes trails and wildlife spotting more accessible.
