The difference

A host wants MYR 4,532. Here’s what it costs.

AirbnbRM 5,362RM 4,532
BookNoFeesRM 4,845RM 4,532

Hosts pay no booking commission and receive their host amount in full. A guest cost contribution of 6.9% of the host amount is already included in the displayed total. It contributes to payment processing, refund handling and payment loss costs.

Take a simple example: an owner who wants to earn RM 4,532 for a week.

Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Booking.com General Delivery Terms.

Vacation rentals in Germany: FAQ

Book vacation apartments and holiday homes safely with BookNoFees ↗
When is the best time for a holiday rental in Germany?

It depends on the region: June to September suits the coasts, islands and lakes; autumn is ideal for the Moselle and Rhine wine areas; and winter brings skiing to the Bavarian Alps and the Sauerland. Spring and autumn are quieter and often better value.

Do I need a car, or is rail enough?

Germany's rail network reaches most regions and even runs directly onto Sylt, and city breaks need no car at all. For rural areas like the Black Forest, Sauerland hills or scattered Moselle villages, a car gives you far more flexibility.

Which German regions are best for families versus couples?

Families tend to prefer the shallow beaches and car-free islands of the North and Baltic Seas, plus the lakes of the Sauerland and Mecklenburg. Couples often choose the Moselle and Rhine vineyards, spa towns in the Black Forest, or Alpine retreats.

What can I do around the Sauerland lakes?

Around reservoirs such as the Sorpesee near Sundern you can swim, sail, row, surf and dive, with hiking and cycling trails through the surrounding hills. Nearby Balve is known for its cave, and Wildewiese offers walking and winter skiing.

How does booking through BookNoFees work?

Choose a home, send your dates and questions to the host, and wait for their acceptance unless the listing supports instant booking. You then pay securely through the BookNoFees checkout and Stripe, not by transferring the booking amount to the host.

Are there added fees on top of the nightly price?

The displayed total includes a 6.9% guest fee on the host price, covering payment processing, refund handling and payment risks. Nothing is added at checkout. A listing may also show charges set by the host, such as cleaning, a deposit or a local visitor's tax (Kurtaxe); check the full breakdown before booking.
