How we rank

Ranking points

Within the results, homes with more points come first. Every host earns them the same way, and none can be bought.

100points

30points

Payouts set up with Stripe, so the home can be paid for and the host paid out.

25points

A BookNoFees minibar assigned to the home with at least one article in stock. We earn a share of every minibar sale, and we say so here.

20points

Guests may book free cancellation up to 24 hours before arrival. It is on unless the host switches it off.

  • 10

A calendar that is right. Connected calendars count in full when all of them were fetched within 48 hours and a portal fetches ours; a broken or one-way link counts half. A home without a connected calendar counts in full while its calendar was looked after within 30 days (a date blocked, a booking, or "Calendar is correct"). Whoever rents out only on BookNoFees gets the full calendar points, for 60 days per confirmation. How many platforms you use plays no part.

  • 8

Reviews: the average of published guest reviews; five stars earn the full 8.

  • 4

    A photo of the host.

  • 2

Saved by signed-in guests. From ten saves on the points are full, so an early lead does not last forever.

  • 0.5

    The languages the host speaks.

  • 0.5

An "About me" from the host.

What decides the order

  1. Fit with the search. Place, dates, number of people and bedrooms. Anything not free does not appear once dates are set.
  2. Distance. If you share a location or select a point on the map, nearer stays appear first. Distance plays no part without a location.
  3. New listings first, for 48 hours. A home that has just been published stands at the front for 48 hours, the newest of them first; the others move one place back.
  4. Ranking points. Homes with more points come first, as shown above.
  5. Price, when the points are equal. Of two homes with the same points, the cheaper one comes first. We compare the final nightly price guests see on the card, including the 6.9% cost contribution.
  6. Stable order. If homes remain equal, only their technical identifier decides. This stops results jumping randomly between pages.

What you can do about it

Nothing on this page can be bought. Several of the points above are in your own hands, and none of them takes more than a few minutes.

What plays no part

If this changes

Should highlighted placements be introduced, two things apply: they are marked as an Advertisement, and they change nothing about the order of the remaining results. We give hosts 15 days’ notice of any change to these criteria.
