The difference
Hosts pay no booking commission and receive their host amount in full. A guest cost contribution of 6.9% of the host amount is already included in the displayed total. It contributes to payment processing, refund handling and payment loss costs.
Take a simple example: an owner who wants to earn RM 4,529 for a week.
| What each platform takes | Airbnb | Booking.com | BookNoFees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Host booking commission | 15.5% | 15%–25% | 0% |
| Payment processing & protection | included | contract-specific | 6.9% |
| Owner keepson a RM 4,529 listing | RM 3,827 | RM 3,396–RM 3,849 | RM 4,529 |
| Guest paysfor RM 4,529 to reach the owner | RM 5,357 | RM 5,326–RM 6,037 | RM 4,841 |
Over 18 weeks let, that is more than RM 9,057 a year in this example — money that stays with the guest or reaches the owner.
Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Booking.com General Delivery Terms.
About Vir
Vir is an island on the Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea, in Dalmatia, north of the city of Zadar. It covers about 22 square kilometres and is connected to the mainland by a road bridge, so you can arrive by car without a ferry. The main village is also called Vir, and the island has two more villages, Lozice and Torovi. At the 2011 census it had around 3,000 inhabitants. The highest point is Bandira, at 112 metres. Beaches line parts of the coast, and many holiday homes stand a short way from the water. The island has a long history. The name Vir is first recorded in a charter of 1069, and in the 16th century the Republic of Venice built the Kaštelina fortress here as a precaution against an Ottoman invasion. The tower still stands near the water. Vir suits a beach holiday with a car at the door. Zadar is on the mainland to the south and can be reached by road for sightseeing.
Nearby

A Venetian tower on the shore of the island, built in the 16th century as a precaution against an Ottoman invasion. It looks out over the water toward the mainland.

The road bridge links the island with the mainland. It is how most guests arrive by car, and the first view of the island is from the bridge.

Pebble beaches run along parts of the island's coast, with a view across the water to the mainland.
