The difference
A host wants MYR 4,574. Here’s what it costs.
Hosts pay no booking commission and receive their host amount in full. A guest cost contribution of 6.9% of the host amount is already included in the displayed total. It contributes to payment processing, refund handling and payment loss costs.
Take a simple example: an owner who wants to earn RM 4,574 for a week.
| What each platform takes | Airbnb | Booking.com | BookNoFees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Host booking commission | 15.5% | 15%–25% | 0% |
| Payment processing & protection | included | contract-specific | 6.9% |
| Owner keepson a RM 4,574 listing | RM 3,865 | RM 3,431–RM 3,888 | RM 4,574 |
| Guest paysfor RM 4,574 to reach the owner | RM 5,411 | RM 5,379–RM 6,097 | RM 4,890 |
Over 18 weeks let, that is more than RM 9,148 a year in this example — money that stays with the guest or reaches the owner.
Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Booking.com General Delivery Terms.

About Istria
Staying in Istria
Istria is Croatia's heart-shaped peninsula, and the most Italian-feeling corner of the country — a place where menus arrive in two languages, church bells echo across vineyards, and centuries of Venetian rule are written into every harbour and hilltown. On the coast, Rovinj rises from a former island in a tumble of pastel houses crowned by the bell tower of St Euphemia, while Pula guards one of the six largest surviving Roman amphitheatres in the world, still used for concerts and film screenings today. Poreč, Novigrad and Umag string further resorts along the Adriatic. Inland, the landscape turns green and quiet: medieval Motovun sits high above the Mirna valley, at the centre of a truffle country that has made Istria famous with food lovers, alongside its olive oils and wines. Off Pula, the Brijuni islands form a national park of parkland, Roman ruins and safari-era curiosities. Distances are short, so you can start the day among Roman columns, lunch under a hilltop loggia, and be back on the coast by sunset. Base yourself in a stone house or seaside apartment and let the peninsula unfold at its own unhurried pace.

Vacation rentals in Istria: FAQ
How do I get to Istria?
Istria has its own airport at Pula, and it is also within driving distance of airports at Rijeka, Trieste (Italy) and Ljubljana (Slovenia). Many visitors arrive by car, since the peninsula is well connected by motorway and short internal distances make a hire car the easiest way to combine coast and hilltowns.
What is the difference between coastal and inland Istria?
The coast — Rovinj, Pula, Poreč, Umag — is where you find beaches, marinas, resorts and Roman and Venetian seafront heritage. Inland, or 'green Istria', is a landscape of vineyards, olive groves and medieval hilltowns like Motovun, prized for truffles and slow food. Most itineraries mix both, as they sit only a short drive apart.
What is Istria known for with food and wine?
Istria is one of Europe's celebrated truffle regions, with black and white truffles gathered in the woods around Motovun and the Mirna valley. It is also known for high-quality olive oils and for wines made from local grapes such as Malvazija and Teran, often served in family konobas (taverns) across the interior.
Is Istria a good destination for families and first-time visitors?
Yes. Short distances, calm resorts, a mix of beach and culture, and an easygoing, Italian-influenced atmosphere make Istria very approachable. You can combine the Roman amphitheatre in Pula, boat trips to the Brijuni islands, gentle beaches and relaxed hilltown lunches without long transfers between them.
