Hosts pay no booking commission and receive their host amount in full. A guest cost contribution of 6.9% of the host amount is already included in the displayed total. It contributes to payment processing, refund handling and payment loss costs.

Take a simple example: an owner who wants to earn RM 4,531 for a week.

Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Booking.com General Delivery Terms.

One country. Many favorite places.

Popular places to stay in Mexico

Mexico rewards travellers who want more than one kind of holiday. Along the Caribbean coast, the Riviera Maya threads together Playa del Carmen's walkable streets and Tulum's beach clubs and Mayan ruins, while Cancún anchors the region with its long hotel zone and the easiest air access. Cross to the Pacific and the mood shifts: Los Cabos pairs desert landscapes with polished resorts, and Puerto Vallarta blends swimmable bays with a lived-in old town. Inland, Mexico City's Roma and Condesa neighbourhoods have become a magnet for food and design, Oaxaca guards some of the country's deepest culinary and indigenous traditions, and Mérida opens the Yucatán's world of cenotes and ancient sites like Uxmal and Chichén Itzá. Holiday rentals suit this variety well — a beach apartment in Playa, a colonial townhouse in Mérida, a leafy flat in Condesa.

Vacation rentals in Mexico: FAQ

Book vacation apartments and holiday homes safely with BookNoFees ↗
Which part of Mexico should I choose for my first trip?

It depends on the holiday you want. For Caribbean beaches, cenotes and Mayan ruins, base yourself in the Riviera Maya — Playa del Carmen is walkable and lively, Tulum is more boutique and design-led, and Cancún has the simplest flights. For a Pacific beach trip, Los Cabos leans upscale and desert-dramatic while Puerto Vallarta feels more authentically Mexican. If culture and food come first, Mexico City, Oaxaca and Mérida are the standouts. Many visitors combine a beach base with a few days inland.

When is the best time to visit, and what is sargassum?

The dry season from roughly late autumn through spring is the most popular window on both coasts, with reliable sun and cooler evenings. Summer is hotter and wetter inland and on the Caribbean side. Sargassum — a brown seaweed that washes onto Caribbean-facing beaches — tends to be heaviest in the warmer months and is a seasonal, variable issue rather than a constant one. Pacific coast beaches around Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta are not affected by it. Check recent local conditions close to your dates, as timing shifts year to year.

How do I get around between the main holiday areas?

Domestic flights connect the big hubs — Cancún, Mexico City, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Oaxaca and Mérida all have airports — and are usually the quickest way to jump between regions. Within the Riviera Maya, the new Tren Maya rail line links Cancún airport with Playa del Carmen, Tulum and inland Yucatán sites, alongside long-distance buses. In cities, ride-hailing apps are widely used. Renting a car makes sense for the Yucatán's cenotes and ruins or exploring the coast at your own pace.

Is Mexico safe for holiday travellers?

The major tourist destinations covered here — the Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico City's central neighbourhoods, Oaxaca and Mérida — are visited by large numbers of international travellers every year, and Mérida in particular is often noted as one of the country's calmer cities. As anywhere, use normal precautions: prefer reputable transport, keep valuables discreet, and stay aware in nightlife areas. Safety guidance can vary by region and over time, so check your own government's current travel advice for Mexico before you book.

What does 0% commission actually mean on BookNoFees?

BookNoFees deducts no commission from the amount set by the host. The displayed total includes a 6.9% guest fee on the host price, covering payment processing, refund handling and payment risks. Nothing is added at checkout.

How does payment work on BookNoFees?

You can message the host before booking. For a booking request, Stripe first places a card hold for the full amount; the host has 48 hours to accept, and only then is the amount captured. Instant Book is charged immediately after Stripe confirms payment. Do not transfer the booking amount directly to the host. The displayed total already includes the 6.9% guest fee on the host price, covering payment processing, refund handling and payment risks.
