Cibo Italian Restaurant & Bar occupies a space in Bridge Plaza on McGregor Boulevard, across from The Landings in Fort Myers. Family owned and established in 2004, it brings Italian cooking together with Mediterranean and American influences. Candlelight and a softly lit dining room give the setting an intimate feel, while the bar offers another place to settle in with a drink before eating. Much of the food is prepared in house, and the selection ranges from familiar pasta dishes to seafood and grilled meats. Starters include charred octopus with roasted corn and lemon oil, clams with garlic and white wine, and ricotta gnocchi with asparagus, mushrooms and parmesan cream. The pasta selection includes lasagna with meat ragù, rigatoni in vodka cream sauce, and angel hair with vegetables and cannellini beans for a vegan option. Several dishes can be prepared gluten free on request. Grilled filet mignon comes with spinach and mashed potatoes, while seafood choices include salmon with lemon caper butter and shrimp scampi over angel hair. Desserts give the meal an Italian finish: tiramisu layers espresso and coffee liqueur soaked ladyfingers with mascarpone, and cannoli have a pistachio ricotta filling. The drinks list extends from Italian wines and bottled beers to Negronis, spritzes and espresso martinis. Reservations are handled by telephone, with guests asked to provide their preferred date, time and party size.
