The Bunch of Grapes is an inn on Ioanni Erotokritou in the old village of Pissouri, up on the Cape Aspro ridge about three kilometres inland from the bay. Its website has been taken down — the page that remains says it will come back — so what follows is what can be checked, and nothing about the kitchen, which we have no source for. The opening pattern is the informative part. It is closed on Monday. From Tuesday to Saturday it opens only in the evening, from half past five to ten. And on Sunday it opens only at midday, from twelve to half past three, and not at all in the evening. A Sunday-lunch-only house that shuts on Monday is a particular institution, and in a Cypriot hill village with a long-settled British population it is a recognisable one. The practical consequence: if you want to eat here on a Sunday evening or a Monday, you cannot, and a Sunday table is the one worth booking ahead. Enquiries and reservations go by telephone or by e-mail; both are given on what is left of the site. The old village is the half of Pissouri with the square, the church and the tavernas; the bay lies below it, down a winding road. You will find The Bunch of Grapes at Ioanni Erotokritou 9, 4607 Pissouri.

Ampelonon 73, 4607 Pissouri
Mon 12:00–15:30, 18:00–21:00; Tue 12:00–15:30, 18:00–21:00; Wed 12:00–15:30, 18:00–21:00; Thu Closed; Fri 12:00–15:30, 18:00–21:00; Sat 12:00–15:30, 18:00–21:00; Sun 12:00–15:30, 18:00–21:00
Kastro is on Ampelonon, the vineyard road that runs down from Pissouri village to the bay. The house keeps no website of its own beyond a Facebook page, so nothing is written here about the kitchen. What the hours show is a restaurant run the traditional way, in two sittings rather than straight through: midday to half past three, then a break, then six to nine in the evening. That is the Cypriot pattern and it means the afternoon is genuinely closed — arriving at half past four will find the door shut, which catches out visitors used to all-day service on the resort strips. It is closed on Thursday. Every other day of the week runs the same two sittings, including Sunday. The evening service ends at nine, which is early for the eastern Mediterranean and early for Cyprus in particular. A table at half past seven is a safer plan than one at half past eight. Pissouri is split between the old village on the Cape Aspro ridge and Pissouri Bay below, a crescent of sand and pebble under white cliffs that holds a Blue Flag for water quality. Ampelonon connects the two, so this address is on the way between them — walkable downhill from the village and a stiff climb back, which is why most people drive it. Parking on the road is free and easy outside July and August. You will find Kastro at Ampelonon 73, 4607 Pissouri.

Ampelonon 57 D, 4607 Pissouri
Mon Closed; Tue 09:00–17:00; Wed 09:00–17:00; Thu 09:00–17:00; Fri 09:00–17:00; Sat 09:00–17:00; Sun 09:00–17:00
Pissouri Bay Cafe sits at number 57 D on Ampelonon, the road that runs down through the vineyards from the village to the bay. It keeps a Facebook page and no website, so nothing here describes what comes out of the kitchen. The hours describe a daytime café and nothing else: nine in the morning to five in the afternoon, Tuesday to Sunday, closed on Monday. There is no evening service at all. That is unusual enough on this coast to be the single most useful thing to know about the place — it is breakfast, a coffee, and lunch, and anyone walking down for supper will find it shut. Those hours also fit the bay rather than the village. Pissouri Bay is a crescent of sand and pebble under white cliffs, with a Blue Flag for water quality, a beach bar and water sports in summer; a café that opens at nine and closes at five is open for exactly as long as people are on the beach. The number given is a mobile. Pissouri lies midway between Limassol and Paphos on the south-west coast of Cyprus, and a car is genuinely useful here — the village, the bay and the sights around them are spread out and the buses are few. You will find Pissouri Bay Cafe at Ampelonon 57 D, 4607 Pissouri.

Steak House by Michael is in Pissouri village, up the hill from the bay, and since it opened in June 2017 it has been the place people drive to for a proper steak: prime cuts including USDA beef, cooked to order on the grill with a choice of sauces, and a wine list that goes well beyond the usual village selection. There is seafood, pasta and a few vegetarian plates for those who do not want meat, and the vegetables and herbs come from the family's own garden. Michael runs the room himself and the kitchen is in the hands of a trained chef; the place was renovated recently and is a step up from the tavernas without being stiff. The outside bar opens at lunchtime for a drink or a lighter plate; dinner is in the evening, Monday to Saturday. Booking is wise at the weekend.

Panorama Lounge stands on Makedonias in Pissouri. It keeps a Facebook page rather than a website, so nothing is written here about what it serves — but its name is a claim about the view, and in this village that claim is easy to test. Pissouri sits on the ridge of Cape Aspro, the white cape, and the land drops away from the village to a bay several hundred feet below. Anywhere in the upper village facing south looks out over the whole of that: the cliffs, the crescent of beach, and the sea running west towards Paphos. It is the reason people build here. The hours run long and start early. Tuesday to Friday it opens at eleven in the morning and closes at ten at night; on Saturday and Sunday it opens an hour earlier, at ten. There is no break between lunch and dinner. It is closed on Monday. A weekend that starts at ten and a week that starts at eleven describe a room used for coffee and a long afternoon as much as for dinner — which for a lounge with a view is the point. The telephone number is a mobile, which is usual for a small house here. Pissouri lies midway between Limassol and Paphos, and the two are each about forty minutes away by car — which makes the village a base rather than a stop, and explains why a room that opens at ten in the morning finds people in it. You will find Panorama Lounge on Makedonias, 4607 Pissouri.

The Vineleaf Tavern stands on Ampelonon in Pissouri. The street name is worth translating: ampelonon is Greek for of the vineyards, and it is the road that runs down from the village towards Pissouri Bay through the vines. The valley here is farming country — table grapes, almonds, carob — and the road is named after what grows beside it. The house keeps no website, so nothing is set down here about its cooking. What can be said is the shape of its day: it opens at one in the afternoon and closes at ten at night, every day of the week, with no closing day and no break in between. That single unbroken afternoon-and-evening service is the ordinary pattern of a Cypriot village taverna, and it makes the place useful at the hours when a kitchen working two sittings would be shut — four in the afternoon, for instance, coming up from the beach. It calls itself a tavern rather than a restaurant, which in Cyprus points at meze and grilled food rather than at a written menu, though we can point at no source for what is actually served. The telephone is the way to ask. Pissouri lies on the south-west coast between Limassol and Paphos. You will find The Vineleaf Tavern on Ampelonon, 4607 Pissouri.

Pafias Afroditis 19, 8041 Paphos
The Windmill is a family restaurant on Pafias Afroditis in Paphos, with roots in a small coffee shop. Chris Kathitziotes returned from Australia, took over his father's business and gradually developed it into the restaurant. Katia carries the kitchen's family recipes forward, while Nancy and Charalambis represent the third generation at the front of house. The setting combines stone and wood indoors with a covered terrace outside. Stone arches, a fireplace and chandeliers give the dining room its character, while a living wall adds greenery. Cypriot meze forms the centre of the food offering. Bread and dips lead into halloumi, keftedes, pastourma sausage, chicken and pork, with the dishes arriving as a succession of shared plates. A separate vegetarian and vegan meze gives plant based diners a similarly varied meal. Other choices include stuffed mushrooms, koupes and a vegan dish that changes with the kitchen's selection. Slow cooked lamb kleftiko and beef stifado sit alongside steaks and seafood. The grill selection includes Black Angus fillet, rib eye and Chateaubriand, while garlic prawns, scallops and sea bream offer alternatives from the sea. Family celebrations are another part of the restaurant's work. Nancy helps arrange wedding receptions, meals before weddings and birthdays, coordinating the table and food with the family. Guests can request indoor or terrace seating when reserving and discuss allergies or dietary needs in advance. The result is a restaurant whose food and hospitality remain closely connected to the people who run it.

Ippokratous 11, 8010 Paphos
Mon–Sat 18:30–00:00; Sun Closed
Pagkratios Tavern is on Ippokratous in Paphos Old Town, serving traditional Cypriot meze with a family story behind its name. Pagkratios was the present family's great grandfather, and the history of the business reaches back to a coffee shop he established in 1937. His great grandson Neophytos and Neophytos's wife Katerina revived the family hospitality business as a tavern in 2010, with other relatives joining its operation. Today the table can be built around meat, seafood, vegetarian or vegan meze. The meat selection combines grilled cuts with salads, dips, cheese and vegetables. Vegetarian meze brings together small plates with cheese and vegetable preparations, while the vegan version includes tahini, bulgur and grilled vegetables. Individual starters provide another way to explore the kitchen: halloumi, village sausage, lountza, mushrooms and zucchini fritters appear alongside salads and dips. The grill offers lamb chops and pork or chicken souvlaki. A separate selection of cooked dishes includes beef stifado, lamb kleftiko, rabbit and pork afelia. Fish and seafood choices include calamari, mussels, prawns and sea bream, while homemade ravioli provides a pasta option. Traditional sweets round out the food selection, including ravani, baklava, halva and preserved fruit. The drinks list includes Cypriot wines, Commandaria and local spirits. Live music is a regular part of the tavern's programme, adding another reason for friends and families to gather around a shared meal. Tables can be reserved directly through the tavern's booking service.

Votsi 6, 8010 Paphos
Laona is a family restaurant on Votsi Street, in a quiet lane off Makarios Avenue in Paphos Old Town. Chris, Koulla and Andreas run a house that has welcomed guests since 1986. Its cooking follows recipes passed down through the family, using local meat, vegetables and Cypriot herbs. Although the premises have been renovated, the kitchen remains centred on familiar regional dishes and the changing produce of the seasons. A blackboard carries the day's selection, and Andreas and the team explain the dishes, their ingredients and the methods used to cook them. This gives the meal a personal introduction before anything arrives at the table. The repertoire includes rabbit stifado, lamb with peas, pork marinated in wine and coriander, stuffed vegetables and moussaka. Oven dishes are particularly prominent: fish, large meatballs and beef casserole appear alongside chicken cooked with lemon and wine. Other choices include pork chop with brandy sauce and fried lamb's liver. Vegetarian dishes have their own place in the selection, with the available options explained by the staff. Salads accompany many meals, while homemade cake and traditional Cyprus coffee provide a familiar finish. The seasonal blackboard means that choosing here is part of the experience rather than a matter of expecting an identical list on every visit. Between the family involvement, the old town setting and the emphasis on slowly prepared dishes, Laona offers a straightforward introduction to the everyday cooking traditions of Cyprus.

Fellahoglu 21, 8016 Paphos
Fri–Sat 20:00–00:00
Michios Tavern is a family run Greek restaurant on Fellahoglu in Paphos, with a kitchen centred on traditional Cypriot food. Meat meze is its signature offering, accompanied by seasonal vegetables and the familiar flavours of the island. Charcoal grilled meats and village salads anchor the cooking, while halloumi, vegetarian options and homemade desserts give the table a broader choice. The meal brings together two strands of the tavern’s identity: a family kitchen and a place for celebration. Its approach draws on culinary traditions passed between generations, with seasonal produce shaping the plates alongside the grill. The menu follows the changing harvest rather than presenting the cooking as a collection of international dishes. For visitors interested in Cypriot food, the combination of meze, vegetables and charcoal cooking provides a clear introduction to the house style. Music is another part of the experience. Live Greek performances take place mostly on weekends, bringing traditional melodies into the dining room and making entertainment part of the meal. That gives Michios a particular appeal for guests who want food and music together, whether visiting as a couple or arranging an evening with friends. The family places a welcoming atmosphere at the centre of the restaurant’s character. Tables can be booked directly by telephone, and reservations are recommended. Calling the tavern also provides a straightforward way to arrange a visit around a musical evening and discuss the vegetarian choices before coming.

Oulla Halali Sou is a family meze house in the Moutallos district of Paphos Old Town. Established in 2023, it brings together a grill, a kitchen preparing handmade appetizers and a dining space intended for shared meals. The name is a Greek expression meaning everything for you, reflecting the family's emphasis on generosity at the table. Cypriot recipes guide the cooking, with fresh local ingredients and preparations passed between generations. Meze is the central experience, supported by souvlaki, sheftalia and village salad. Appetizers accompany the grilled food, and replenishing those small dishes forms part of the house's approach to hospitality. The family describes the grill and the appetizer kitchen as complementary parts of the meal, bringing together flame cooked meat and a succession of other flavours. Local wines, beers and soft drinks accompany the food. Guests can sit in the air conditioned dining room or on the outdoor patio terrace. The restaurant also arranges meals for groups and special occasions, asking organisers to contact the team so that preparations can be made. Reservations are recommended, although walk in guests are welcome. Takeaway is available, and delivery is offered through Wolt. Live music events add another dimension to the tavern, with meze forming part of the experience on those occasions. This remains a place organised around eating together: guests visiting for music or a casual gathering are expected to order food. Its combination of family cooking, shared plates and personal service gives the restaurant a clear neighbourhood character.
