Villasimius
Sa Morisca takes its name from the Sardinian word for the prickly pear. It has been run by the same family since 2003 under the arcades at the end of Via del Mare, at Via Matteotti 7-9, right in the center of Villasimius. The room is fitted out in stone and wood with plants and warm lighting, and there is a terrace and a small garden for eating outside. The kitchen does fresh fish from local waters, Sardinian dishes such as culurgiones, spaghetti with clams and bottarga, fregula, tuna tataki and beef fillet in cannonau, plus the day's catch grilled and priced by weight. Pizzas come from a wood-fired oven, with classics alongside house pizzas named after local beaches like Giunco and Is Traias. What sets the place apart for coeliac guests is its certification by the Italian Coeliac Association: gluten-free pizzas are baked in dedicated ovens, most of the menu can be ordered without gluten, and there is a gluten-free beer and Sardinian craft beers on the list, along with gin and tonics built on Sardinian gins.
For a family in a rental, this is the easy evening in town: the restaurant serves dinner every day from 19:30 to 23:00, lunch only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 12:30 to 14:30, and the same hours apply year round. The menu has its own children's section with plain pasta, a burger and a cutlet. Reservations are taken by phone at +39 331 1810817 or by email, and pizzas can be ordered to take back to the house.
